About the PHASE Team

Operating under the umbrella of MoEP, the Lunar Research Team (PHASE) is a research team dedicated to the exploration and discovery of the Lunar.

The team conducts a variety of research endeavors to investigate the Lunar’s geology, geochemistry, and resources, to explore ways to sustain human presence on the Lunar, and to develop the Moon as a science and exploration base.

PHASE’s Mission

The mission of the PHASE team is to advance scientific knowledge and understanding of the Lunar and to utilize the Lunar for the benefit of humanity. To achieve this goal, the team aims to;

  • Investigate the Lunar’s geology, geochemistry, and resources,
  • Explore the presence and distribution of water and other potential resources on the Lunar,
  • Research and develop ways to sustain human presence on the Lunar,
  • Develop and utilize the Lunar as a science and exploration base,
  • Contribute to enhancing our knowledge of the Lunar, Earth, and the solar system.

PHASE’s Research Areas

The PHASE focuses on the following research areas to investigate the Lunar:

  • Lunar Geology: Employing geological, geophysical, and remote sensing techniques to map and study the Lunar’s surface, geological structure, and evolution.
  • Lunar Geochemistry: Utilizing geochemical and isotopic analyses to examine the Lunar’s chemical composition and elemental distribution.
  • Lunar Resources: Investigating the presence and distribution of water, minerals, and other potential resources on the Lunar.
  • Life on the Lunar: Exploring the possibility of past or present life on the Lunar and assessing the Lunar’s suitability for human habitation.
  • Lunar Colonization: Developing the infrastructure and technologies necessary to sustain a permanent human presence on the Lunar.
  • Lunar Science and Exploration: Utilizing the Lunar as a science and exploration base to conduct astronomical observations and other scientific research to gain knowledge about the solar system and universe.
  • Turkish Space Mission: Examining and supporting the activities of the planned Ay Görevi (Lunar Mission) within the framework of the Turkish Space Program.
  • Artemis Mission: Contributing to NASA’s Artemis lunar exploration program and supporting the goal of sending humans to the Lunar.
  • Lunar-Earth Communication Systems: Researching advanced communication systems to facilitate communication and data transfer between the Lunar and Earth.
  • Radio Astronomy: Conducting research on the planned radio astronomy station to be established on the Lunar.
  • EME (Earth-Moon-Earth): Developing and utilizing amateur communication systems (MoonBounce) employed in Earth-Moon-Earth communication.
  • Unmanned Vehicles: Examining and developing unmanned vehicle systems that operate on the lunar surface.
  • Space Probes: Researching previous space probes and lunar missions.

Importance of PHASE

The work of the PHASE is crucial for enhancing our knowledge and understanding of the Lunar and for utilizing the Lunar for the benefit of humanity.

The team’s research can aid in acquiring new insights into the Moon’s geology, geochemistry, and resources, in developing ways to sustain human presence on the Lunar, and in advancing our potential to utilize the Lunar as a science and exploration base.

The PHASE is an integral part of MoEP and makes significant contributions to advancing scientific knowledge and understanding of the Lunar and to utilizing the Lunar for the benefit of humanity.
