We wanted to get kids attraction about Mars and other space studies to create an awareness of space. For this purpose, we organized a painting event with the theme “Life on Mars through the Eyes of a Child“. Children who were at home because of the pandemic sent us the pictures they drew with an e-mail. We got more than 150 drawings. You can view the pictures sent in this link.
In this event, we sent an e-certificate to all children and chose all the children’s drawings #1. We didn’t want the kids to be in a race, life is not just a test or a competition. All children and their families were happy with this result. Later, we sent them a book about space as a gift.
Pictures of Children’s Drawings to be Sent to Space
In the second part of the activity, we decided to send their drawings to space using electromagnetic waves. We will send pictures of 25 drawings every week on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can find the date and time of the event on our website and social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube). The planned activity times for this week are as follows;
- 27 November 2020 (UTC) 16.00-19.00
- 28 November 2020 (UTC) 15.00-19.00
- 29 November 2020 (UTC) 15.00-19.00

We sent the pictures to our team in Finland. The amateur radio station of Barış DİNÇ (one of Mars On Earth Project Founder) with call sign OH2UDS will be used to send the pictures of the drawings to QO-100 satellite and back to Earth. This station will be operated by Burcu AYBAK (OH2CAV) and Nil DİNÇ (Mars On Earth Project founder).
Theoretically, the signal carrying pictures of drawings will travel 10 million km. in space with the frequency and power used for this activity. Meanwhile, the QO-100 satellite, which is in orbit of 36.000 Km, will send the pictures back to Earth. Radio amateurs and children (together with their families) will be able to receive the pictures using their radio stations or online WebSDR receiver web pages with the help of KG-STV software. The pictures will tracel 72.000 Km. in space (round trip to the satellite) before received by attendees.
KG-STV Mode
- Mode: MSK
- Code: Normal (Non)

Memorial of the Event
(*) If, the radio amateurs within the coverage of the QO-100 satellite send the pictures they received in this activity to Mars On Earth Project community with e-mail, the organisation will send them an e-certificates as a memorial. Your e-certificates will be sent after the event ends.
(**) Pictures received by radio amateurs and sent to organisation will be served in organisation web page picture galleries. (For e-certificate: Link)
Can I Receive The Pictures?
Absolutely yes and it’s very easy. Even if you don’t have any amateur radio equipment, you can receive the pictures from the satellite just using your computer. Moreover, if you send us the pictures you have taken in this way, you are also entitled to receive a certificate. We offer you two options for this.
Please follow the instructions in these web pages and watch the instruction videos.

Ömer Selim is only 8 years old, but thanks to his brothers and sisters like you, they witnessed the projects we have just seen as a Mother and Father, even if an 8-year-old child can participate in the live broadcast and ask questions. Thanks to your team.
Drawings show emotions, feelings and wishes of many kids who dream life on Mars just like on the Earth. They don’t know how the “Red Planet” is, but they aren’t scared about that. Mars is figured like a wonderful place where everybody can joyfully meet other people. Due to this reason, kids draw men, galaxies, starship and rockets using sparkling and vibrant colours. Some drawings are simple….other more complex…but every drawing is expression of love, happyness, energy, Curiosity and joy of life. IZ2NPF Andrea & M
