Space is a realm of exploration and exploitation and has contributed substantially to different aspects of society. Additionally, its a symbol of intra-, inter-, multi-, and trans-disciplinarity driving global cooperation on global needs and challenges.
We, the members of the Mars on Earth Project (MoEP) community (Indian Chapter) & ‘Life’- To & Beyond, participated in the “LIFECON2022: Multidisciplinary Research in Life Sciences”, a one-day national e-conference organized by the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology (B.N.N College, India), on 07th March 2022.
We began as a team of 5 enthusiasts who started a systemic literature review and came up with some great ideas to work on.
We accumulated all the relevant published manuscripts and links that we came across during our literature survey in a Google Drive folder. We jotted down all the potential topics within a few virtual meets.
After a lot of brainstorming, everyone finally decided to work on the topic, “Space Industry and COVID-19: An Insight Into Their Shared Relation”. After that, we decided on the table of contents (ToC) for our review article.
We divided the pointers from the ToC among ourselves so that we could individually work on our focus points. However, 3 of our members couldn’t continue the venture due to unavoidable circumstances. So, it was just 2 of us now.
After this initial hiccup, we decided to put in extra effort to put up with the initial motive of producing a review paper.
The review process got its direction with a bibliometric mind-map generated using VOSviewer (by analyzing manuscripts related to space and COVID-19 from the Web of Science/WoS database).
Here, the authors would like to thank Chandigarh University for providing the necessary access to WoS for generating the bibliometric mind-map.
Subsequent draft preparation, review, and editing finally led to the final write-up, ready for submission. Next, we finalized the registration process for the e-Conference. We submitted our review paper abstract under the category ‘Pharmacology’ in the abstract submission format.
Finally, the results were out, and our abstract was selected for presentation at the LIFECON2022 e-conference, among 9 other (research papers) abstracts. Thereafter, we submitted the presentation and the full-length review article on the above topic to the conference organizers and journal publishers, respectively.
Subsequently, the review paper was presented at the LIFECON2022 e-conference on 7th March 2022. The keynote speakers appreciated the presentation for being a unique review idea and presentation. We received 109 points out of 150 and secured the 4th position among all the 10 presentations.
As a final point, on 10th March 2022, we got the official intimation of our review article being selected for publication. We were delighted to receive this notification. The review paper was published on 29th March 2022 in the International Journal of Enhanced Research in Science, Technology & Engineering and received much appreciation from its readers.
We shared the news with our MoEP Community. We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported us in this endeavour of ours.
