April 23rd Special Day Activity of MoEP

As MoEP, we planned an amateur satellite activity to celebrate the April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, which our great leader Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK gifted to Turkish and world children.

The pictures drawn by the children at the event will be sent to space by the MoEP-Amateur Satellite Communication Stations and to the QO-100/Es’hail 2 satellite, which is in 36,000 km orbit and will be automatically sent back to the Earth by satellite.

As the returned images become available, they will be received by radio amateurs worldwide in the satellite’s wide coverage area and reported to the MoEP.

General Rules for Drawings and Submissions

Image-1. Paper waits for the pen to start dreaming, don’t make it wait too long.

This activity is not a competition. We don’t want any child to be stressed out by competing on an important day for them. Even if all the pictures are not sent on April 23, the drawings of all children will be sent to space and satellite in the following days. Other rules are listed below.

1. The theme of the pictures that children will draw has been determined as “Hope and Future is Mine!”.

2. The deadline for submission of the pictures is April 19th, 2023 at 5 PM (GMT+3, Istanbul).

3. Participating children can draw pictures suitable for the above theme on white A4 papers in the horizontal format using any pencil and paint material.

4. We want our children to be free to dream and use the available opportunities for equal opportunities. If they wish, they can make a huge drawing together on the blackboard in the classroom and take a picture of it.

5. Name, Surname – Age (in numbers) can be written legibly on the lower right side of the picture, provided that it is not too large.

6. After completing the drawing and painting, the picture should be taken clearly in a horizontal frame in a well-lit environment and sent to MoEP using the form below.

Can the “Drawings Broadcast from Satellite” Be Viewed by Children?

In this study, MoEP-Amateur Satellite Communication Stations will be used to send pictures. The images returned from the satellite will be received from amateur radio stations in different countries and cities.

Although the work requires an amateur radio license and special equipment, we also plan and coordinate so that children are informed about how these works are carried out and can follow them instantly. A second article will be shared on the subject.

Sharing of Pictures Sent to the Activity

In addition, all the pictures, audio, and videos sent will be turned into a video collage and broadcast again via satellite and on our YouTube account. We recommend that you subscribe to the channel and turn on notifications in order to be aware of the broadcasts.

Activity Certificates

As MoEP, we wanted to make sense of this work at the April 23rd event with two different certificates.

1. A “Memory Certificate” will be sent by e-mail to each Turkish and international amateur radio operator who provides support and participation to all children who send drawings.

2. A separate “Classroom Sending Pictures to Space” certificate, which the children participating in the event can hang on the classroom doors or inside the classroom “if the school will deem it appropriate,” will be sent to the participant’s contact addresses on the school web addresses by e-mail.

From MoEP…

” … It was 1979. I was eight years old. Our teacher gathered us in a small classroom during break time. In the middle was a projector machine brought from abroad. Then the lights turned off, and the machine’s light was reflected on the wall. I was in that enormous solar system that we always read about in books. The rotation of the planets, the stars, the Sun, Mars, and our blue Earth, the most beautiful planet in the dark… When the video was only 3-4 minutes long, and the lights in the room were turned on, we were still staring at the wall as if fascinated… It has been 41 years, but thanks to the love of space instilled in us with a single spark that day, I am a part of the team that founded MoEP in 2020.”

We aim to ignite a spark of science for children within our means. Although we are adults, we are excited about this activity and can’t wait to see the pictures. You can send us any questions about the activity by clicking here.

As MoEP, we send our greetings and love to all children. See you at the door of space on April 23rd; stay with love…
